About
Las Galeras
"Las
Galeras, located on the North Eastern coast of the Dominican Republic,
is one of those places that has managed to stay off the radar of
mass tourism and effortlessly provides that unique and ever-elusive
experience that is getting harder and harder to find."
The
numerous outrageously beautiful and sparsely populated beaches
are an obvious reason to visit Las Galeras. With at least eight
beaches in the area, each with its own charm, you are sure
to find a favorite.

Surrounded
by tropical forests, mountainous coconut groves, diverse geographical
features, with exotic flora and fauna, Las Galeras offers great
nature-oriented attractions. Recognized as a place of important
bio diversity and outstanding natural beauty, large tracts of
land are protected by the Dominican Government.

In
Las Galeras you can still see, hear and smell the sights of
authentic Dominican life. You will find yourself just
as curious as the locals when the fishermen bring in their catch.
Perhaps you will pick the fish you want to eat and have it cooked
at the fish shack right on the beach.
The
clip clop of donkeys' hoofs means food is being transported from
the local farms to the shops in town and you might select a few
bananas from a reed basket woven by the farmer.

The
real treasures of Las Galeras are best explored at the slow
rhythm of nature and you will quickly find yourself enticed
by this pace.....so plan to stay awhile.
"The area may not stay as it currently is for very long. The peacefulness and natural beauty of the area may soon give way to the tourist culture that have claimed so many of the world’s gorgeous beaches and natural destinations."
